About the Role
Vidyard is looking for a Senior Software Developer to be a key player in our Developer Platform team. In this role, you’ll be working closely with an awesome team of developers and a product manager, all under the guidance of an Engineering Manager. Your goal? To use your skills to simplify and enhance the day-to-day experience of our developers.
This role is available to candidates currently located and eligible to work within Canada.

Infrastructure Pillar: This area is dedicated to crafting the foundational infrastructure for microservices that propel our business forward. They are at the forefront of defining and realizing a vision for best-in-class scalability and availability. Ensuring our services thrive in Kubernetes clusters, with a keen focus on observability (Metrics, Logging, Distributed Tracing).
Developer Experience Pillar: Focuses in empowering and unblocking product teams with state-of-the-art developer tooling. Think cloud development environments, cutting-edge CI/CD tooling (build, test, deploy), crafting golden paths, streamlining onboarding processes, and leading the way in incident management. It’s all about creating a smooth, efficient developer journey.
By ensuring our infrastructure is robust and our developers are well-supported, our Developer Platform team plays a crucial role in enabling our business to thrive and innovate.
What You’ll Work On
- A cross-functional team that implements platform tools, automates processes, maximizes uptime, and maintains a Kubernetes-based cloud development environment.
- Enhancing the technical expertise of fellow engineers on the team and providing insightful, thorough code reviews.
- Identify opportunities to Introduce new workflows or tooling to enhance the developer experience.
- In partnership with the team, you will be responsible for the observability solution, implementing best practices for Logging, Metrics, and Tracing.
- Creating and running enablement sessions to empower developers. Improve and maintain comprehensive documentation to facilitate easier onboarding and efficient processes.
- Participating in a rotation program to support developers with questions and issues related to internal tools, ensuring smooth operations.
What You’ll Bring to this Role and Your New Team
- Technical Expertise: 5+ years of experience in software development and a strong understanding of cloud development environments and CI/CD practices, with practical experience using tools like GitHub Actions and other CI integration tools (e.g., Merge Queue, code coverage, etc.).
- Developer Experience Advocate: You’re all about crafting tools that resonate with engineers. Your focus? Simplicity, supportability, ease-of-use. Plus, you’re a pro at gathering feedback and enhancing the developer experience.
- Decisive in Ambiguity: You’re comfortable making decisions in uncertain situations, knowing that action often leads to answers.
- Collaboration Across Teams: Work closely with product teams to build a robust infrastructure that aligns with business needs and developer requirements. You excel in making things clear, understanding risks, and discussing trade-offs.
- Quality Leader: You’re driven to uplift our standards in quality, reliability, and performance.
- Lean & Experimental: You have a metrics-driven approach and love to experiment.
- Mentor & Guide: Sharing knowledge and mentoring team members is second nature to you.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to identify and address pain points in the developer workflow, implementing effective solutions.
- Feedback-Driven Approach: Eagerness to learn from developer feedback through surveys and interviews, and apply these insights to drive improvements.
Bonus if you:
- Have past experience working at a SaaS Product Led Growth company.
- Are experienced with AI
Technical Skills We’re Targeting:
- Experience with the Kubernetes echo system tooling
- Experience with scripting languages such as python
- Infrastructure as Code tooling – e.g. Terraform
- Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD): Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and tools like ArgoCD, Jenkins, GitLab CI, CircleCI, or GitHub Actions.
- Observability tools including Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog and Rollbar
- Some experience of modern front-end stacks – e.g. Webpack, Babel, Vue.js, React.js
- Server technologies such as Node.js and Ruby on Rails
- Relational Databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL
- Distributed computing concerns such as message queues and pub/sub
- Understanding of Graphql and RESTful APIs
