Hi, we’re Oscar. We’re hiring a Senior Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) II to join our Quality Engineering team.

About the role
The Quality Engineering team empowers Oscar’s Engineering team to deliver higher-quality software in a standardized fashion and with ease!
In this role, you will build Oscar’s state-of-the-art automation framework for multiple UI applications (Web/Mobile, API, RDMS, BI). You will be on designing a scalable solution and achieving the goals with your team. You will collaborate with engineers and product managers Tech to understand foundational gaps in testability of our digital member experiences.
You will report into the Associate Director, Quality Engineering.

Pay Transparency
The base pay for this role is: $174,400 – $228,900 per year. You are also eligible for employee benefits, participation in Oscar’s unlimited vacation program, company equity grants, and annual performance bonuses.
Responsibilities
- Become the expert on automation testing best practices, be on top of the latest frameworks and tools
- Lead the planning, execution and release of complex technical projects
- Work with engineering partners, product managers, and designers to review system requirements and technical design documents to determine test automation readiness
- Lead and mentor engineers on the team; be an advocate for Quality Engineering and SDETs, help rethink and improve processes and metrics
- Independently responsible for creating, designing, implementing, and maintaining automation frameworks and test scripts
- Facilitates, encourages, and enhances cross-team execution and collaboration; knows when cross-team projects are at risk and actively mitigates risk to deliver on time
- Prolific contributor to the objectives of Quality Engineering, as well as (potentially) organization-wide projects
- Drives prioritization of technical roadmap and influences prioritization of product roadmap and process enhancements within their team
- Actively identifies and reduces failure domains
- Builds software to minimize effort and business impact during maintenance and failures
- Guides the development of Service-Level Objectives (SLOs) for systems they are responsible for
- Own medium to large features or infrastructure projects from technical design through completion
- Compliance with all applicable laws and regulations
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- 6+ years of professional software engineering experience, working with a variety of technologies, and have increasingly impactful accomplishments
- 6+ years of experience designing and developing automation test framework for enterprise level applications
- 6+ years of experience with automation frameworks testing Web Apps, Mobile Apps, API’s, using frameworks such as: Selenium, Xcode UI tests, and Appium
- 6+ yrs experience in contract/API/performance/load testing
- Experience as a major contributor cross-pod or cross-company deliverables
- Experience leading technical contributions, improving the quality of what your teams create, and are excited to build fault-tolerant, and scalable software systems.
- Demonstrates expertise of the practical application of CS concepts within their team.
- Sets and enforces the standard for writing stable, correct, and maintainable code
- Experience mentoring and training more junior engineers

Pay Transparency: Final offer amounts, within the base pay set forth above, are determined by factors including your relevant skills, education, and experience.
