As Product Manager at Invoice Cloud, you will focus on our Insurance vertical and work to increase biller and payer satisfaction through new feature development and enhancements. You’ll be expected to work daily with stakeholders inside and outside the company to understand Insurance-specific problems and business opportunities. You will work with the Insurance vertical leader to deliver the insurance product vision and support new customer launch needs. Someone successful in this role feels equally comfortable meeting with customers and prospects, prioritizing product features, and writing user stories.
Competencies:
- Self-starter who is comfortable running multiple projects simultaneously with minimal supervision.
- Customer-focused background with extensive experience interacting with customers from both support and new product development perspectives.
- Practiced with product management in a B2B environment, with B2C e-commerce experience a plus.
- Background shipping products quickly and iterating based on their performance.
- Demonstrated experience driving cross-functional teams to success, without direct reporting authority.
- Passionate about playing the role of the product owner on a scrum team.
- Strong UX sensibilities and comfort with UI best practices.
- Possesses a true “roll up your sleeves” mentality necessary to thrive on a small team.
Who We Seek:
- 2+ years operating in the Insurance industry. Candidate does not need to have PM experience in that vertical.
- Minimum of a BA / BS, preferably in computer science, engineering, or other quantitatively oriented fields. An advanced degree in business or a relevant field is a major plus.
- 4+ years of SaaS product management experience with product owner responsibilities.
- Experienced with using analytics and user research to drive decisions and improve products.
- Has demonstrated an owner’s mentality for their product area, is obsessive about the small details, and is passionate about the product and space they lead.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills with demonstrated experience in customer and competitive research.
- Exceptionally clear and precise communication skills – able to effectively communicate both strategic vision and specific details to customers and internal stakeholders.
Outcomes:
First 30 days
- Gain an understanding of Invoice Cloud’s SaaS products – verticals served, payment methods, user flows – through internal discussions and by completing training on the platform.
- Review current backlog and roadmap and build an understanding of all documented Insurance product initiatives.
- Shadow implementations and sales calls to develop customer empathy, including relying on Gong recordings.
First 90 days
- Gain a thorough understanding of InvoiceCloud’s partner approach in the Insurance vertical, including go-to-market motions and sales strategy.
- Collaborate with other PMs to ensure insurance backlog items are appropriately prioritized and support the teams with one-pagers and specifics for epics and user stories. Improve the tracking and transparency of backlog items to support teams responsible for building integrations and implementing new customers.
- Work with Cloudies and customers to build expertise in the Insurance vertical, gaining knowledge and documenting user personas and key use cases in both B2B and B2C.
- Review existing data sources to evaluate user behavior, including internal data and Pendo analytics.
- Become well-versed in the payments industry, including an in-depth understanding of what happens when payments are processed.
Ongoing
- Collaborate with vertical leaders and the R&D team to build a product roadmap for insurance, ensuring the sequence aligns with company goals and vertical strategy.
- Own the Product relationship with Implementations, Integrations, and Customer Success to ensure proper customer launches and ongoing customer service. Run an ongoing process to ensure continuous alignment.
- Gain in-depth knowledge of our billers’ and payers’ workflows, identifying opportunities to improve overall satisfaction and key metrics.
- Lead cross-functional teams to define key metrics and develop a strategy for positively impacting those metrics.
- Inform product decisions with product instrumentation, AB testing, surveys, and usability studies.
- Identify adoption improvement opportunities that can be solved without using R&D resources, prioritize them, and work with the appropriate teams to make changes. This includes biller onboarding, biller website optimizations, and other out-of-the-box thinking.
- Gain a holistic understanding of the payments market to identify disruptive opportunities in payments experience.
- Build both back-end and front-end solutions to improve payment workflows.
- Define methods and metrics for identifying success and failure while ensuring the team understands their objectives.
