Bluesight is looking for an Engineering leader to help us redefine and grow our suite of healthcare data capabilities to further the company’s mission of “Medication Intelligence”. Our hospital and pharmacy customers rely on us to keep their patients safe and their pharmacies running smoothly while delighting them with every release. By streamlining their pharmacy’s daily routines with our RFID inventory management solution and reducing risk and enhancing their compliance with our controlled substance tracking platform, we’re committed to improving medication management for our nation’s healthcare providers, and our data operations and products are the backbone of our offerings.
The opportunity
Bluesight is growing rapidly and we need a data science leader. You’ll be leading a team that provides intelligence to our product teams, building data products, as well as building predictive models that power our core products. A successful candidate is a great people leader and self-starter, has a track record of leading data teams that implement and operate Data services at scale, and collaborates with teams. Ideally, they come from either a data engineering or data science background as an IC. This is a unique position in that data is our product, and you’ll be leading the team tasked with analyzing our data, integrating the algorithms, and creating visualizations in production systems. This work will have a direct impact on hospital pharmacies, by providing actionable insights that reduce drug spend, increase medication safety and compliance, and maximize staff productivity.

You can expect to:

  • Lead top-tier data science talent. 
  • Stay hands-on-keyboard working on predictive models, scoring of our algorithms or other reporting needs
  • Assist in model technical design, data quality and ensure ease of use for the end-users
  • Assist in developing solutions to support the automation of ongoing reporting and analytical needs
  • Coach the data science team through regular feedback.
  • Troubleshoot and extend our data lakehouse’s pipelines in Airflow, Glue and other tools 

About You:

  • You have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a quantitative or data-intensive field – Computer Science, Engineering or similar discipline
  • IC experience in data science including predictive modeling, machine learning, or data engineering 
  • Fluent in creating visualizations and Business intelligence reports. Can advise team on communication methods for technical and non-technical audiences
  • Expert-level SQL (MySQL, Redshift, Presto)
  • Experience using Sagemaker and other AWS ML technologies
  • Experience working in or extending a data lakehouse architecture
  • Great analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities in fast-paced environments
  • Knowledgeable in distributed data processing patterns
  • Ability to present results, in written and verbal mediums, to both non-technical and technical audiences
  • Experience with data reporting architectures (e.g Snowflake, RedShift) 
  • Consistent record in unblocking teams and projects
  • Experience with SDLC principles and specific programming experience in Python and PyData

Nice to have:

  • Experience in healthcare working with PHI or other sensitive data
  • Experience with building data governance and data catalog toolsets
  • Knowledge of hospital data systems (e.g. EHR, ADS, purchasing, etc.)
  • Knowledge of the pharmaceutical supply chain
