Effectual Cloud Technology Evangelists are members of the Public Sector Program Management team responsible for ensuring that customer-facing projects are delivered with exceptional customer satisfaction and technical excellence. You are a “Brand Ambassador” and are expected to stay current on leading practices to deliver high-quality, well-conceived solutions to customers.
A Glimpse into the Daily Routine of a Cloud Technology Evangelist
The Cloud Technology Evangelist will support the federal civilian government’s cloud adoption initiatives by driving awareness, engagement, and organizational change. Responsible for advocating the adoption and integration of cloud technologies across the organization, working with varied stakeholders including but not limited to system owners, development teams, cloud cost analysts, cloud communications consultants, finance teams, and INFOSEC. Play a key role in communicating the benefits of cloud to different departments and stakeholders, ensuring that cloud technologies are institutionalized and widely embraced. The candidate will also be familiar with public sector cloud compliance and organizational change management practices to foster successful cloud transformation. Engaging with AWS for support, bringing them in for discussions and solutions as needed, and facilitating communication between internal teams and AWS. Stay updated on public sector regulations, cloud, compliance requirements, and industry trends as an ongoing practice.
Responsibilities
- Cloud Evangelism & Advocacy:
o Act as the primary advocate for cloud technologies, helping diverse groups within the organization understand the value of cloud adoption
o Promote cloud solutions by communicating their potential to improve efficiency, scalability, cost management, and security
o Conduct workshops, presentations, and one-on-one sessions with various departments to explain the advantages of cloud computing and how it can transform their workflows
- Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration:
o Work closely with stakeholders including but not limited to system owners, development teams, finance teams, and INFOSEC to understand their current technology ecosystems and identify opportunities for cloud adoption
o Collaborate with departments to tailor cloud strategies that align with their specific goals and operational needs
o Serve as a liaison between the cloud sponsor and various internal and external teams, facilitating communication and addressing concerns related to cloud adoption
- Cloud Adoption & Change Management:
o Lead efforts to institutionalize cloud across the organization by helping teams transition from legacy systems to cloud platforms
o Develop and implement organizational change management strategies to ensure successful cloud adoption, addressing both technical and cultural aspects of the transition
o Guide stakeholders through the cloud journey, from understanding the benefits to integrating cloud solutions into their daily operations
- AWS Support & Collaboration:
o Engage with AWS representatives for ongoing support, troubleshooting, and optimization discussions, ensuring cloud solutions are fully aligned with the agency’s requirements
o Bring in AWS teams for solution discussions, ensuring their expertise is leveraged to solve complex technical problems or to provide clarity on AWS offerings
o Maintain a close working relationship with AWS for continuous feedback, ensuring timely updates on AWS product developments, best practices, and government-specific solutions
- Compliance & Governance Support:
o Ensure that all cloud solutions are implemented in accordance with federal civilian government compliance standards, such as NIST, FISMA, and FedRAMP
o Assist teams in navigating public sector cloud compliance requirements, helping them understand how to remain compliant while benefiting from cloud technologies
o Work with INFOSEC and other security teams to ensure that cloud solutions meet the organization’s security standards and risk management practices
- Cross-Departmental Communication:
o Bridge the gap between technical and non-technical stakeholders, translating complex cloud concepts into understandable terms for diverse audiences
o Foster communication and collaboration across departments, ensuring that cloud adoption is a shared initiative with clear goals and measurable outcomes
o Help create internal cloud champions within different teams to further advocate cloud adoption at all levels of the organization
o Act as the communication bridge between the organization and AWS, ensuring a clear understanding of cloud solutions, challenges, and opportunities
- Cloud Strategy & Vision Support:
o Work closely with the cloud sponsor and senior leadership to support the organization’s long-term cloud strategy and vision
o Provide input on cloud governance models, cost optimization strategies, and modernization efforts that align with the agency’s mission and objectives
o Continuously assess emerging cloud technologies and trends, keeping the organization informed of new opportunities to enhance its cloud capabilities
- Training & Education:
o Develop training materials, documentation, and educational resources to support cloud adoption efforts
o Conduct training sessions and workshops for employees at all levels to increase cloud literacy and ensure successful cloud integration
Qualifications
- Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree in related discipline AND
- Minimum Experience: 4 years’ experience specialized cloud technologies OR
- Substitution/Alternative to Minimum Education and Experience: Must have at least 12 years of on-the-job experience
- Be able to work remotely but, be able to go on-site as requested and/or occasionally with potentially some form of post-pandemic cadence, on-site in Washington DC
- Certifications – AWS Associate or Professional Certifications, Prosci Change Management Certification, and/or Project Management Professional (PMP, ACP)
- Must be a US Citizen
- Experience in cloud technology, with a focus on cloud advocacy and adoption, preferably in a public sector or government environment
- Strong experience working with AWS cloud services, engaging with AWS for support and solutions, and integrating AWS offerings into organizational IT strategies
- Experience leading cloud adoption and change management initiatives within a government setting
- Experience in writing white papers, reports, or blogs on cloud technology trends and benefits in the public sector
- Deep knowledge of federal cloud compliance requirements (NIST, FISMA, FedRAMP)
- Ability to manage multiple cloud adoption projects in a fast-paced and evolving environment
- Proven ability to communicate technical cloud concepts to non-technical stakeholders and build consensus around cloud adoption strategies
- Knowledge of cloud cost management and optimization strategies, particularly in AWS
- Demonstrated ability to speak at conferences, seminars, or government forums to advocate for cloud technologies
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage and influence diverse audiences
- Proven ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and manage multiple stakeholders in a complex public sector environment
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to anticipate and address potential barriers to change during application migrations to AWS cloud
- Continuous learning mindset, keeping up to date with AWS cloud services, industry trends, and best practices in organizational change management within the public sector
- Proficiency in project management tools and software (e.g., Microsoft Project, Gitlab, Trello, Asana)
- Ability to work with multiple clients, in parallel
- Ability to work Eastern Standard Time Zone schedule
Location: Remote or hybrid option
Salary Range for this position: $130,000 – $175.000

Travel Requirements
The travel requirements for this position may vary depending on our needs. You should be prepared to travel domestically as necessary. Travel frequency and duration will be communicated in advance, allowing for proper planning and coordination. Typically, travel may include attending conferences, client meetings, training sessions, and other business-related events. The ability to travel is essential for fulfilling the responsibilities of this role and supporting our organization’s goals and objectives.
