Your Role

As the Clinical Director you will play a pivotal role in overseeing our clinical care across all customer segments. Your leadership will be integral in driving strategic medical initiatives, ensuring the delivery of high-quality care, and optimizing outcomes aligned with the company’s mission. You will lead a multidisciplinary clinical team, collaborate cross-functionally, and uphold regulatory compliance standards while fostering a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion.

You Will:

1. Clinical Team Leadership:

  • Lead and manage the clinical team managers, RN, NP, Behavioral health, health guide managers, including hiring, retention, development, and quality assurance.
  • Establish clear performance goals for all clinical team members aligned with practice objectives and patient care standards. Regularly monitor progress and provide feedback, coaching, and resources to support team members in meeting their individual and collective goals.
  • Contribute to clinical policies to ensure members and patients receive safe, effective care at all times. 
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, Network, Product, Marketing, Health Plan, Medical Leadership, Sales, and Technology teams to integrate clinical perspectives into the Firefly platform and products.
  • Collaborate with clinical operations and customer success to engage clinicians in care programs and client opportunities

2. Quality Assurance, Regulatory, and Compliance:

  • Oversee clinical supervision and quality assurance in partnership with the Assistant Medical Director.
  • Working with General Counsel and Operations, ensure Firefly care teams are meeting regulatory compliance and ensure ongoing compliance in all states and all scope of practice. 
  • Chair the Patient Safety committee. Implement both proactive and responsive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the quality and safety of patient care delivered 
  • Ensure all clinical staff is informed and educated on updates to care protocols, medical guidelines, and compliance requirements through regular training sessions, case reviews, and knowledge-sharing forums.
  • Set and uphold high clinical standards and practices aligned with primary care best practices. Remain current of new trends and best practices in virtual care and disseminate this to the teams. 

4. Value-based Care

  • Partner with health plan leadership to align care delivery strategies with organizational goals, population health initiatives, and risk-based contracts.
  • Collaborate with the Medical Director of Value-Based Care to design and implement programs that improve quality metrics, accurate acuity capture, care coordination, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Participate in the development and execution of population health strategies, ensuring integration of clinic operations with health plan initiatives.

5. Efficiency 

  • Partner with Clinical operations, Product, and Physician leadership to conceptualize and operationalize clinical, product and operational strategies that scale the clinical team
  • Test, change, deploy and maintain processes to meet efficiency, volume KPIs, and cost-to-serve goals while reducing total cost of care. 

6. Clinical Care 

  • 15% of this role’s FTE will be in direct synchronous and asynchronous virtual episodic patient care in the Firefly Care Model.
  • Conduct virtual consultations with patients to assess medical concerns, provide diagnoses, and develop personalized treatment plans.
  • Take home call one week at a time on a predictable schedule to address patients’ urgent health needs, frequency is prorated to clinical FTE

You have:

  • Master’s or Doctorate degree in Nursing with active and unrestricted, current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) in good standing.
  • Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in primary care or related fields, with at least 5 years of direct management of clinical teams, which can be concurrent. 
  • Proven track record of implementing operational efficiencies and improving team productivity.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and decision-making skills, with a keen eye for quality and safety.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working effectively across interdisciplinary teams.
  • A commitment to continuous learning, patient-centered care, and team development.
  • Knowledge of established Patient Safety principles

Our office is located in Watertown, Massachusetts, and while this role can be done largely remotely, there are several times of year when staff come together onsite for planning and team building.
