Reporting to the Head of Total Rewards & Payroll and working closely with our People Operations Team, the Senior Specialist will provide project management and support for the Payroll Team. This is an opportunity to help build strong and scalable processes, practices and workflows to ensure smooth, compliant, and timely administration of our payroll.

In this role you will have the opportunity to:

  • Act as a subject matter expert for Payroll special projects within the People Ops Team and across the organization. Including providing advice and solutions to stakeholders on payroll best practices, impacts, risks, and issues.
  • Act as liaison between the various project teams and Payroll
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and document business requirements, develop workflows and processes related to Payroll, Benefits, Time and Absence systems to smooth the information flow and increase data accuracy in Workday.
  • Participate in integration building, testing, enhancements and implementation of systems impacting payroll.  Build scalable processes and procedures.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules and ensure documentation is maintained throughout the project.
  • Develop strong relationships with clients and stakeholdersContribute to the development of new ideas and approaches to improve work processes.
  • Assist members of the Payroll Team as required.

Skills you bring:

  • ​​Has a payroll certification (PCP or PLP), currently pursuing or willing to obtain.
  • Has 5+ years of experience processing payroll and administering employee benefits. 
  • Has experience in multi-province jurisdictions in Canada (including Quebec). US payroll practices and relevant legislation is a plus.
  • Proficiency in HR & Payroll systems (preferably Workday)
  • Project management experience
  • Able to manage multiple projects or assignments at one time.
  • Has sharp attention to detail
  • Takes initiative – strong personal accountability for high quality work
  • Has strong time management skills, adhering to dates and deadlines ensuring completion
  • Has strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Has excellent verbal and written communication skills
