We are seeking a visionary and strategic leader to serve as our Director, Interactive Design. You will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive website design experience to achieve our brand and category-building objectives. You will lead a talented interactive design team. Your ultimate measure of success will be designing a website experience that will: 
– Illustrate how 1Password has created a new category and demonstrate its leadership 
– Advance 1Password’s journey from a single product to a multi-product platform
– Showcase 1Password’s value proposition as an enterprise cybersecurity provider without alienating millions of loyal consumer customers

In this role, you will serve as the driving force behind visually representing our brand strategy and category narrative on our website, shaping how the world perceives and interacts with 1Password. In this role, you will design our website to captivate audiences, spark conversations, and drive meaningful connections.

Reporting directly to the Sr. Director of Creative and Brand: this is a remote role within the US or Canada.

What we’re looking for:

  • Proven experience as a Director of Interactive Design, Website Design Director, or a similar senior role in public or late-stage B2B SaaS companies as well as digital agencies. 
  • At least eight years of experience in leadership or senior roles across interactive website design, preferably with some experience working for companies targeting cybersecurity or IT persona.
  • A visionary in website design, including expert analytical, strategic, and conceptual design skills.
  • A champion of user interactive design principles with a proven track record of delivering web experiences that delight customers. 
  • Demonstrated critical and creative thinking skills with a collaborative approach to leading a cross-functional project team through complex visual design challenges.
  • Proven track record of building and scaling web design teams, developing workflow processes for efficient production of deliverables, and working with sprints across a cross-functional design, UX, UI, content, and engineering team.
  • Proficiency in buyer journeys for both B2B and B2C audiences, including self-service business and sales-assisted motions. 
  • Ability to balance between strategy and execution of web design.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a gift for visual storytelling.
  • Passion for innovation and a relentless drive to push the boundaries of what’s possible.
  • Exceptional leadership skills with an ability to inspire, develop, and lead a world-class team.
  • Proven experience in creating simple, elegant, and scalable design systems for B2B websites. 
  • An understanding of the cybersecurity industry, trends, and technologies, and the ability to construct persuasive visual storytelling for security and IT audiences.

Maintain a rigorous focus on user-centered design, incorporating research, testing, and feedback into the decision-making process. Ensure design experience maximizes the number of customer journeys. 
  • Build: Partner with the brand design team to evolve and scale 1Password’s brand identity into a dynamic and ownable web visual system that delights users. Build foundation, governance, maintenance, and evolution of a world-class digital design system.
  • Innovation: Stay at the forefront of industry trends, guiding the application of innovative design solutions that strengthen brand impact. Drive innovation in digital experiences, ensuring 1Password remains cutting-edge through staying informed on digital design trends, emerging technologies, and best practices.
  • Collaboration: Communicate design vision effectively to teams and stakeholders, rationalize design choices, collaborate with UX team, and advocate for the best user experience. Act as a trusted partner for internal and external teams working with our web team.
  • Data-driven: Analyze website performance metrics to drive continuous interactive design improvement.  Partner with the web strategy team to conduct ongoing A/B experimentation.
