About the job
Twilio is seeking a paralegal with a solid employment and litigation background and demonstrated track record of solving complex and challenging problems for a dynamic company. This is a great opportunity for a paralegal looking to grow their in-house experience with Twilio, the leader in customer engagement. In this role, you will have the opportunity to partner with Twiilo’s business units across the company to drive solutions on a variety of issues. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who is curious and can operate in an environment that is constantly changing. This is a global role supporting attorneys in the NAMER, EMEA, and APJ regions and reporting to the Sr. Managing Paralegal. This role is critical in supporting Twilio’s in-house litigation and employment teams.
Responsibilities
In this role, you’ll:
- Support Twilio’s in-house and external counsel in factual development of cases, including coordinating with business stakeholders, conducting interviews, gathering and reviewing documents, and creating relevant materials.
- Assist with the discovery process, including the collection, retention, and production of documents and data, drafting written responses to requests, and using eDiscovery tools and workflows for discovery responses.
- Research, draft, and review legal documents, including responses to demand letters, agency charges, and subpoenas, settlement agreements, employment-related documents, and engagement letters.
- Oversee, maintain, and draft existing and new document retention notices, including assessing what document types are potentially relevant to the matter and determining which business units, systems, and custodians hold such documents.
- Prepare documents for court filings.
- Create and maintain a repository of legal documents such as demand letters and responses, separation agreements, subpoenas, and various templates.
- Analyze information, documents, and data and provide written analysis to legal counsel, along with recommended next steps.
- Work with outside counsel to create legal matter budgets and coordinate with Twilio’s Legal Operations team to track the same.
- Track and manage critical litigation and other deadlines to ensure the team is aware of upcoming deadlines.
- Help with the development and implementation of processes for efficient and streamlined operations, including work flow between Twilio’s Employment Legal team and other teams.
- Project manage and assist with various ad hoc legal projects and provide broad legal support to the Litigation and Employment Legal teams.

Required:
- BS or BA degree or paralegal certification with a minimum of 3+ years of paralegal experience with a law firm or in-house legal department.
- Excellent on-line research and investigative skills.
- Knowledge and prior use of e-discovery tools and workflows for data preservation and collection.
- Be a self-starter who works effectively on a geographically-dispersed team with minimal day-to-day supervision, including by exhibiting good judgment of when to handle issues independently and when to escalate issues to supervisors and colleagues.
- Possess excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrate strong attention to detail.
- Perform well in a fast-paced, deadline-intensive environment.
- Be proficient in the use of software, including Google Workspace products, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel, and Slack.
- Be willing and able to quickly develop proficiency in unfamiliar software and systems.
Desired:
- Experience working at a law firm or in-house at a multinational, publicly-traded company on both US and international issues.
- Experience working with or for technology companies.
- A sense of humor, enthusiasm for technology, and desire to learn about Twilio’s products and services.
Location
This role will be remote but is not eligible to be hired in San Francisco, CA, Oakland, CA, San Jose, CA, or the surrounding areas.
*Please note this role is open to candidates outside of Colorado, California, New York,Washington and Washington D.C. The information below is provided for candidates hired in those locations only.
The estimated pay ranges for this role are as follows:
- Based in Colorado or Washington D.C.: $84,320 (Developing Minimum for Tier 3) – $105,400
- Based in New York, Washington State, or California (outside of the San Francisco Bay area): $89,280 – $111,600
- Based in the San Francisco Bay area, California: $99,200 – $124,000
- This role may be eligible to participate in Twilio’s equity plan and corporate bonus plan. All roles are eligible for the following benefits: health care insurance, 401(k) retirement account, paid sick time, paid personal time off, paid parental leave.
The successful candidate’s starting salary will be determined based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as skills, experience, and geographic location within the state.
