What you’ll be doing:

This is a temporary role and we are seeking a skilled and passionate Copywriter with a strong background in philanthropy and fundraising to join our nonprofit organization. In this role, you will craft compelling, mission-driven content that inspires donors, funders, and volunteers to support our cause. Your copy will play a critical role in engaging our community, driving donations, and raising awareness for our programs and initiatives.

The ideal candidate has experience writing persuasive and emotive copy for nonprofit campaigns, fundraising appeals, and donor communications. You understand the unique tone and style required to motivate people to give and have a deep understanding of the nonprofit landscape.

  • Write powerful copy for multi-channel fundraising campaigns, including direct mail, email appeals, social media, and digital ads.
  • Create donor-centric content, such as thank-you letters, story-telling content, impact reports, donor newsletters, and website copy, that conveys gratitude and the value of their contributions.
  • Assist with writing compelling narratives for grant proposals, ensuring alignment with the organization’s mission and the funder’s priorities.
  • Craft emotionally engaging stories that highlight the impact of the organization’s work, showcasing the beneficiaries of programs and the significance of donor contributions.
  • Write persuasive copy for donation pages, landing pages, and other web content that drives online engagement and contributions.
  • Collaborate with the philanthropy and marketing teams to align copy with fundraising goals, campaign strategy, and organizational objectives.
  • Write promotional and follow-up content for fundraising events and other donor engagement activities.
  • Continuously test and refine copy based on performance metrics such as click-through rates, conversions, and donation amounts.
  • Ensure all content aligns with the organization’s voice, tone, and values, and speaks effectively to diverse audiences.
  • Work closely with philanthropy, marketing, research, and other teams to gather information and create copy that reflects the organization’s impact and mission.

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of professional copywriting experience, with a strong focus on nonprofit, philanthropy, or fundraising content.
  • Proven track record of writing successful fundraising appeals, donor communications, and campaign materials that drive engagement and donations.
  • Exceptional storytelling ability, with experience crafting narratives that elicit emotional responses and inspire action.
  • Ability to write for different platforms (emails, social media, website, print) and adjust tone and style for different audiences (donors, foundations, volunteers).
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines, working efficiently in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
  • Familiarity with applying analytics and performance data to refine and improve copy for better results.
  • Strong editing and proofreading skills to ensure high-quality, error-free content.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in or with nonprofit organizations.
  • Familiarity with donor behavior and motivations.
  • Knowledge of fundraising trends and best practices.
  • Experience with grant writing and proposal development.
  • Certifications or training in fundraising or philanthropy.
  • Experience with digital fundraising tools, email marketing platforms (e.g., Mailchimp, Salesforce), and content management systems.

Reliable High-Speed Internet Required: Must have a stable high-speed internet connection to support seamless remote collaboration, virtual meetings, online job tasks, etc.

The full salary range for this position, across all United States geographies, is $30-$45 per hour. The upper portion of the salary range is typically reserved for existing employees who demonstrate strong performance over time. Starting salary will vary by location, qualifications, and prior experience; during the interview process, candidates will learn the starting salary range applicable for their location. We pay competitively in the tech-forward nonprofit space and offer a robust benefits package.
